I can honestly say that I am a fan of Gurren Lagann, in fact I enjoyed the series much more than I thought. It had an interesting cast of characters and the premise of the show wasn’t half bad. Of course being an Gainax production, I was excepting something different. And like many Gainax series, Gurren Lagann doesn’t lack in the symbolism.
What I didn’t know was that a new movie was released in Japanese theaters back in April. That is until I stumbled upon this clip on YouTube. Apparently the movie covers the first half of the series, with some remade and new scenes. One such scene includes this “rebirth” of Simon after Kamina dies. I liked this scene in the series, and this version isn’t that bad either. Certainly interested in seeing this movie now, wonder if someone will release it Stateside. Anyway, check out the clip below.
What I also like about this clip is the fight between Yoko and Adiane. This is pretty much new to the movie. They did have a little bit of a standoff in the series, if you want to call it that. Have to say Yoko has some nice moves here. I loved loved it. Yoko was pretty hawt! Granted, leave it to Yoko to end up topless by the end of the fight; but the expression on her face at 2:38 is fierce. I loved that expression and is the best part of the fight for me (even more than Yoko’s jiggly funbags =D). Definitely going to find out if this movie will be available in the US, else may have to look for it online.
