For those that may be keeping track or if you are just an Eureka Seven fan, then you no doubt heard the news of the Eureka Seven movie. Well, it would appear that the trailer is now online for it. The movie is suppose to be a retelling of the story presented to us in the series, which probably the best thing for a movie adaptation for those that have not seen the series.
The trailer does give the impression that they capture the same “feel” of the original series though, which is good because Eureka Seven is one of my favorite series. In fact, I would rank Eureka Seven has my number one on my list of favorite anime series. The series had a great story, characters I could relate and feel attachment to (especially true for Eureka and Renton), good animation, good mix of action and drama, good soundtrack – just had a good mix of everything.
So it goes without saying I have high hopes for this movie. And I was certainly excited when I first heard about this adaptation. And after seeing this trailer I am even more excited.
The movie is scheduled for release in Japan on April 25th. Hopefully someone will pick up the rights (probably Bandai) for US release. And with any luck they will get the original cast back together for the dub (Johnny Bosch did a great job as Renton, didn’t even know it was him until I saw the commentary on the DVD).
