I have to say I am quite grateful to live in this information age! MIT Media Lab’s Fluid Interfaces Group is currently developing a wearable device that can overlay meta data over anything it recognizes, creating a user interface design that changes the way we interact with data and the world. The result…the Sixth Sense!
The demonstrations in this video are quite interesting. Using a lot of common gestures, you can interact with the world in new yet familiar ways to gain access to just about any information you can think of. Also interesting that they developed the device using off-the-shelf technology that total about $350.
I thought that the iPhone brought a lot of invocation to mobile devices, but this device has a wide range of possibilities in itself. Especially with the constantly evolving state of technology, I’m welling to bet that this device will get even smaller and more affordable. It certainly brings us one step closer to a world similar to Ghost in the Shell, where humans are connected to vast amounts of information no matter their location.
Certainly be following the development of this technology now that I know about it.

What do you think about Sixth Sense technology development and its implications?
Special thanks to Jamie for posting this on this blog! Certainly an interesting news bit.
