Touhou Project x Dollfie Dream

Earlier this week, dollfie tweeter mofuritsu posted a link to a splash page featuring the image above.  Basically, it alludes to a Touhou Project coming soon.  Like many, I immediately thought “Touhou Project x Dollfie Dream!”  Of course, this lead to many a tweet regarding it among the DD community.  Some excited at the possibility, others not wanting to jump to any conclusions that it was DD related since VOLKS does produce other items.

I figured that since VOLKS did similar gimmick for both the Gurren Lagann and White Album releases that it would be an “educated assumption” to say that this page was Dollfie Dream related.

Well, today confirmation came in the form of a revised web page.  Gone is the “Coming Soon…” image, instead replaced with absolute proof that it is indeed the next collaboration project from Volks.  You can check out the page here.

What is also of interest with this latest release is that they will be among the first DD to feature the new Dollfie Dream Sister (DDS) body.  This new body is 50 cm tall and features more flexible joints compared to the current line of DD bodies.  You can see more about the new body at the Dollfie Dream 7 Year Anniversary page.

My overall knowledge of Touhou is pretty limited.  I know of the franchise and the various media that features the Touhou girls.  But the story behind it I am not too familiar with.  I am also interested in the new DDS body.  Curious if VOLKS will eventually send these improvements down the pipeline to their Mini Dollfie Dream, Dollfie Dream II, and Dollfie Dream Dynamite bodies.  Only time will tell, but I am optimistic.
